I just watched Roadhouse based on the recs here and yeah it was great etc but Jake Gyllenhal does NOT get his kit off, not even one little bit and I feel I have been lied to 😠

I’m thoroughly enjoying Presumed Innocent and will re watch the 1990 version with Harrison Ford. ‘Slow Horses’ a new season starts beginning of September on Apple TV which is good news.

I keep forgetting who I REALLY FANCY. I spend a ridiculous amount of time watching Seth Meyers on his show. He is SO MY TYPE. He LOVES a drink - interviews celebs in a bar playing drinking games (look for the Julia Louis Dreyfus in particular), has great teeth and is just 🔥🔥🔥.

Also can recommend Spin - a french political sort of thriller, like a French House of Cards. Two hot men, gorgeous locations, nice and brightly lit (!) and some excellent intrigue. Amazon Prime.

Absolutely LOVING Presumed Innocent - devastated at the end of each episode as they seem so quick - also it’s better than 90% of everything on streamer TV so it kind of reminds you how enthralling good TV can be, rather than vaguely amusing while you also look at your phone…🥴

Loot on Apple TV also v. good if you like Parks and Rec type shows. Girls 5 Eva on Netflix written by Tina Fey is a hidden gem. Loving all these other reccos, lots I hadn’t heard of! x

Can I just quickly issue an apology for the several typos and errors in this piece - and thank you to everyone for just politely ignoring them. All have now been corrected. Sometimes being your own sub-editor just doesn't work.

I have a very nerdy explanation for this. Apparently creating a piece and proofreading it use different bits of our brain. When we proofread our own stuff we're actually still trying to improve it, so we don't go into full proofreading mode. This is why in theory we should always show stuff to others, however much we pride ourselves on spotting mistakes. Or at least leave it for a while until you've moved on from trying to make it perfect. (I told you it was nerdy.)

Thanks Philippa, this does make sense. Usually I will leave a piece for an hour or so and then go back to it, but yes even then there are still a few errors. Having a sub editor look at your work is absolutely one of the great luxuries of working for a newspaper

Sugar on Apple TV is really good. Starring Colin Farrell (looking his best) it’s a great series. 8 episodes in this first series. Lots of suspense and drama. Highly recommend

I’m watching presumed innocent but find that every scene is very dark ( in colour) rather than in nature ! Maybe our tv ! I bet that it’s Karen’s son, just a hunch The best series I’m watching is End of summer. A Swedish series Its a thriller about a lost child from 20 years ago It’s very good and had me guessing up till the end

I am SO OVER dark TV. I binged some Luther last week as I had been ill and it was almost difficult to make out what was happening…

I was absolutely captivated by Yellowstone and the prequel 1883, and I’m just about to start the other prequel 1923. They are old fashioned western films, a little bit brutal at times but with the most beautiful cinematography and filmed in highly photogenic Montana.

I can watch only a meh show now if there is a good looking man in it. I don’t feel guilty about this, men have been doing it since the cave drawings

To be honest, anything I watch between now and the release of the new Disney Plus adaptation of Rivals is simply to make the time pass more quickly.

Rivals had bloody well better be my reward for getting through the summer holidays, although David Tennant as Tony Baddingham feels all kinds of wrong

Can I go against the grain and state muscled men don't do a jot for me. They make me feel a bit yucky. Especially when they are cast in, for example, a WW1 film. Men were not built like that in those times and looking at their bulging muscles just makes it so fake. Was Paul Newman or Robert Redford ever that pumped? Don't think so.

I'm about to watch Rebus and started on the Turkish Detective so enough to keep me going. Saying that my husband is watching some Viking thing on Netflix .... I won't be joining him.

This really comes across in What’s Love Got To Do With It. Angela Bassett is brilliant as Tina Turner but her 90s muscles look very odd paired with 50s twin sets and 60s shift dresses

Agree. I don’t like beefcakes… I am more Bill Nighy / David Tennant skinny type. Is Tom Hiddleston muscley ? Maybe a bit but I like that…

Esther, PLEASE WATCH the original and read the book. Am thinking of getting Apple to watch this as IT IS SO FUCKING CLEVER. Am not going to dangle anything else bar this…

Harrison Ford in a v sexy period, Greta Scacchi in the perma-sexy period, it is FABULOUS!

Talking hunks, Daniel Craig was always on my list, I saw the Loewe ad with the sunnies and a little bit of sick came in my mouth BUT i reviewed and am coming around to the foppy hair.
