In early 2023 I made a decision to eat the same things every day - or almost the same things. I did this in order to streamline my daytime diet because what happens is that I can’t be bothered to think of what to have for lunch, (I hate lunch: the imposition, the mess), and so don't really eat it and then get hungry and stuff my face with a Nutella bagel followed by a bowl of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes at 3pm.
One of the reasons that I like the 16:8 diet is that it requires no thought. The amount of thought and time I already have to put into catering for my family is onerous, the thing I don’t also want to have to think about is what I am going to have for lunch on a Tuesday. There is a French bakery up the road and they sell cheese and ham baguettes with pickles and a lot of good, salty butter and if I am not prepared for resistance, I will swipe one of those every day and I can’t do that. Not any more.
