This is a reminder that you don’t need to start running or become teetotal or be vegan or leave your husband or get a dog or learn Japanese or “entertain at home more” or move house.
You just need the children to go back to school and to be completely alone for one entire day in order to plan some meals that aren’t based around red meat, pasta or made entirely of sugar.
You need three okay nights’ sleep in a row.
You need the mental and physical space to re-start whatever movement schedule you were committed to back in November. The mental dexterity to remember what even are those things that are supposed to be on your to-do list.
You just need this rollercoaster of luxury food and sofa-dwelling to cease, that’s all. Very simple.
More soon.
Thank you. I think what I needed might have been this. I had a jacket potato for dinner yesterday, just butter and cheese, and it felt like a homecoming. I feel like dough left to rise in a warm place. I want fresh air and a sharp salad and a clean sheet of paper.
Great to have a day or two getting the place back to normal after visitors, maybe sorting out one cupboard (the one you dread opening is a good one). I chose the 'stationery, wrapping paper and gift bags' cupboard. Now I can't stop opening it and admiring my handiwork.
